There is Something For Everyone to Take Away From Sam Mendes' Empire of Light for 14HQ

In recent years where cinema’s biggest action and fantasy hits have occupied my cinema visits, romantic dramas have definitely taken a backseat. But with the unexpected coupling of Michael Ward and Olivia Colman in Empire Of Light, I was intrigued yet sceptical of what to expect. In complete transparency, the dynamic of their relationship was something that I couldn’t make sense of as I watched the trailer through the scope of just a romantic drama. Now looking back, the trailer’s ambiguity almost makes perfect sense but also in a way that may leave viewers confused. I was also excited to see Michael play a role that completely differed from his first on-screen appearances in recent years alongside the iconic Olivia Colman.

The Importance of The Mobo Awards to British Music Culture for Gauchoworld

For over 20 years The MOBO (which stands for Music Of Black Origin) Awards has been a platform that has celebrated artists within the genres of Hip Hop, Grime, RnB/Soul, Reggae, Jazz, Gospel, and Afrobeats. Within its general focal point of Europe, MOBO has played a huge part in elevating the careers of an endless number of homegrown, black musicians here in the UK. Established in 1996, the MOBO awards is the first, black awards show in Europe which was founded by Kanya King. She pushed the agenda of not only celebrating individuals that worked to rise to the surface but also supporting talent that is yet to be discovered. MOBO has since been a large part of the push that supported the rise of UK artists such as Ms Dynamite and Kano as well as present day artists including Stormzy, Krept and Konan and more. All in all, MOBO has worked to surpass boundaries to allow these UK artists to achieve global recognition.

Who's New in Top Boy Season 3 for RedBull UK

Drake's brought the East London crime drama back from the dead – and the brand new trailer boasts some familiar faces.

The much-anticipated return of the ultimate black British drama Top Boy has been announced – and in epic fashion. Drake aired an exclusive trailer for the show's third series at his London show earlier this week. Originally aired on Channel 4, the Hackney-based series, offers – in the words of its star Ashley Walters – a "raw, real representation of street culture". The cast of series one and two included the likes of former So Solid Crew star Walters, BAFTA Rising Star Letitia Wright and grime forefather Kano. The second series aired in 2013, and that looked like it might be it. But the help of superfan Drake – who's onboard as a producer – Top Boy has been resurrected as a Netflix Original, and it looks like the show's links with music are going to continue to deepen.

8 Afrobeat Collaborations Linking the UK with Africa for RedBull UK

Afrobeats is a true global 21st Century sound. A catchy blend of house, dancehall and hip-hop with its roots in African styles like highlife and Jùjú music, it emerged from Ghana and Nigeria in the mid-2000s, and in the hands of breakout artists like Wizkid and Burna Boy has spread to diaspora communities across the world. In particular, the sound has laid down deep roots in the UK, where artists like NSG, Sneakbo and Kojo Funds have intermingled the sound with homegrown rap to create genres like Afro bashment and Afro swing. In turn, the UK’s appreciation for Afrobeats has seen a growing unity between UK and international artists – in a recent interview with Julie Adenuga, Burna Boy called the UK his ‘second home’, while a growing list of link-ups prove that the lines of communication between Britain and Africa have never been clearer.
